This web site is designed to;
promote the Yorkshire Federation of Rugby Football Union Referees
give advice on how to join the society and become a referee
show some of the challenges and rewards of refereeing
provide information about rugby clubs in the Yorkshire area
The Yorkshire Federation of Rugby Football Union Referees is divided into 5 member societies:
According to The Oxford Dictionary, a referee is defined as an umpire; a person appointed to supervise a game or contest and to see that rules are observed.
So what makes someone want to be a referee? In our case, prefix referee with the word “rugby” and refereeing takes on a whole new meaning and way of life for us. It also confers responsibility on us to do our best to ensure both players and spectators alike are given the opportunity to enjoy themselves every time we carry out our duty.
The latest society monthly meetings are held at the following dates and venues:
Central - 20th March at West Leeds
East - 3rd March at Driffield
North - 26th March at Easingwold
South - 20th March at Doncaster
West - 28th February at Keighley
Please put the dates in your diary
All
meetings start at 7.30pm
Richard Glynne-Jones has asked the Referee Union Reps to make it clear to all members that it is RFU policy that no referee should be appointed to U18 and below games unless they have been CRB checked. This policy came into effect on the 1st of September 2005 and it is stressed that no exceptions should be made.
